The Rugged PDA is the first military graded pocket computer to become commercially available. Uneffected by harsh conditions such as water, sand, snow or bad weather and submersible up to 1m, the Rugged PDA is produced in four models, the smallest of which weighs less than 380 grammes. Its touch sensitive, colour-reflective display, built-in loudspeaker and microphone make it possible to put essential information and communications capabilities into the palm of your hand in all conditions.
Incorporating powerful computing capabilities, a radio communications controller and a GPS receiver, the Rugged PDA can be used for mapping, message routing/transfer, situational awareness, planning and countless other digital applications. The modular design of the Rugged PDA enables the operator to reconfigure hardware and software for any specific situation.
The Rugged PDA includes a GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver which allows users to receive updated reports as well as accurate locational information – all in real time while in the field. Applications that utilise GPS can include mapping, navigation, on screen forms and message transfer.
Besides its internal battery, the Rugged PDA features external or commercial battery capability providing over 30 hours of non-stop operation. Unlike conventional PDAs, they can survive a six- foot drop and survive immersion in three feet of water for up to an hour.
The Unit has a modular design (that is suitable for use in bright daylight) and can be modified for specific applications.
